Dr. Kim Gillbee

Kim has completed a Masters in Psychology (Counselling) and a PhD at Monash University. Her research looked into factors that contribute to a healing therapeutic relationship and effective psychotherapy outcomes.

Have we worked together before?

*Prior to making a booking, please make sure you have familiarized yourself with our Fee and Billing details, understand how you intend to fund the session, and have the required documentation. If you are still unsure, or would like to discuss our fees further, please feel free to contact us.

New clients are welcome. Online bookings are available for initial consultations, including full-fee paying, Mental Health Treatment Plan, NDIS, DVA, TAC, Workcover, etc. If it feels like the right time to talk, you can book a session. Alternatively, feel free to get in touch if you would like to ensure we are a good fit first.

Online bookings are managed through a secure healthcare system (Cliniko).

Fees and Billing

Full-Fee

The full fee cost of a 55-minute psychology session at Nook Psychology is $250 AUD payable on the day of the appointment. However, there are several pathways available which may help with funding a psychology appointment.

Medicare Rebates

Australian citizens are eligible for up to 10 individual or group sessions in a calendar year (1 January - 31 December).

Medicare rebates are available under the Australian Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative. Medicare will pay a rebate of $98.97 per 55-minute session with a Generalist Psychologist. As the cost for a session is greater than the Medicare rebate, you will be responsible for the gap. On the day of your psychology appointment, you will be charged the full session amount, and then Medicare will reimburse you the rebate.

In order to receive a Medicare rebate, you must be referred by a medical practitioner (GP, psychiatrist or pediatrician). To obtain a referral you need to book an appointment to visit your GP prior to your appointment with us. When booking an appointment with a GP, please mention that you are hoping to discuss a Mental Health Treatment Plan, as doctors often need longer appointment times for this.

In most cases we can lodge your Medicare rebate claim for you on the day of your psychology appointment. Medicare will then take 48-72 hours to process your rebate into the account you have registered with them. Alternatively, you can upload your invoice receipt directly into the Medicare app on your phone and they will usually pay the rebate immediately. If you do not have a bank account registered with Medicare, they will issue a cheque, and this process can take 1-3 weeks.

Concession Rates

A concession rate and bulk billing may be available under certain circumstances. Please contact us if you would like to talk about the possibility of a reduced fee session.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

Kim is an NDIS accredited provider and able to accept funding via NDIS for self managed and plan managed clients with a valid plan.

Transport Accident Commission (TAC), Workcover, Victims of Crime, EAP, and Department of veterans affairs (DVA)

We are able to accept funding via TAC, Workcover, Victims of Crime, EAP, and DVA for approved clients.

Private Health Insurance

You may have access to rebates through your private health insurance. Rebates from private health funds vary. It's best to check with your insurer regarding eligibility and level of cover. If you use private health insurance the Medicare rebate will not apply; they cannot be used together. If you wish to claim a rebate through your private health insurance, you can upload the invoice receipt provided to you after your appointment into your private health fund app directly or take it in to a branch.

Non-Subsidized Sessions

If you are not an Australian citizen or are not covered by Medicare or other rebate options, you can still make an appointment, but will have to cover the full cost of the sessions. Some people also prefer to choose this option for privacy or other reasons.

Documentation

Additional fees are charged as agreed upon for assessments, reports, letters, and documentation for work, university requirements, insurance or legal purposes.

Cancellations

You can easily cancel a booked appointment using the cancellation link provided in your booking confirmation email, or contacting us directly. Reasonable notice of cancellation is required so your session can be allocated to someone else. Cancellations, rescheduling, or failure to attend with less than 24 hours notice may be charged a cancellation fee, or in some cases the full cost of the session.

Please contact us to find out more about fees and available options.
